AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said on Tuesday that his team are still in the hunt for the Serie A title despite the defeat against arch-rivals Inter.

"I don't understand why Inter can hope for the league title, while we are considered dead," Milan's official website quoted Galliani as telling reporters after the Football League meeting.

"I don't understand why there is talk of the end for the team that is 11 points from Juventus and of ambitions for the league title for the team that is at 10," Galliani added referring to Inter.

Milan, last season's runners-up in Europe and Italy, were handed their first defeat in the Milan derby in three years after losing 3-2 over the weekend.

Galliani's side are now fourth in the standings with 31 points, level with Fiorentina and 11 points adrift of title holders Juventus.
