Ismailia-Yasser Al-Sherif: Senegal coach Abdoulaye Sarr said that he cannot guarantee winning the African Cup of Nations (ACN) title despite having a large number of Europe-based players in his squad.

Sarr said his players lack the experience that some of the other African teams in the tournament have.

“Having 16 Europe-based players in my squad doesn’t guarantee me the title,” Sarr told Filgoal.com on Thursday.

“Some of our African contenders are armed with experienced players like veteran Hossam Hassan who was called up to the Egyptian team,” he added.

The Senegalese national team commenced their training in Ismailia on Thursday ahead of the ACN.

The Senegal delegation had relocated from Port Said to the Olympic Village in Ismailia, which according to Senegalese officials offers a more relaxing environment to help the players focus.

Senegal kick-off their African campaign by facing Zimbabwe on Monday in the opening match of their Group D that also includes Nigeria and Ghana.
