Senegal striker El-Hadji Diouf said that he was content of his side’s performance in their 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the African Cup of Nations (ACN) Group D match that took place on Monday.

“We played a good match, but what was important for us at the start of our campaign was to get the three points, and we succeeded,” Diouf told Arab Radio and Television (ART) network after the match.

The Bolton Wanderers forward also congratulated the Senegalese fans for the victory and vowed to qualify to the African Cup quarter-finals.

Diouf insisted that they earned their victory over Zimbabwe and that they will do their best to make-up their failure to qualify to the 2006 World Cup.

Senegal lead the Group D standings, ahead of second-place Nigeria, only on goal difference, while Ghana and Zimbabwe come at third and fourth places respectively.
