Senegal coach Abdoulaye Sarr insisted that he wasn’t satisfied with his players’ performance during their 3-2 victory over Guinea in the African Cup of Nations (ACN) quarter-finals match that took place on Friday.

“I congratulate the players for our victory, but I’m not satisfied with their performance in the match. We will show much better form in our semi-finals match,” Sarr told reporters in a press conference after the match.

Guinea, who showed spectacular form throughout their campaign, ended the first-half 1-0 before Senegal netted three goals to secure their passage to the competition semis.

Asked about facing Egypt in the semi-finals, Sarr said: “Egypt have two important aspects on their side, the fans and the ground, as for us, we have the experience.”

Sarr concluded by saying that he didn’t field his star player El-Hadji Diouf given his injury and insisted that he doesn’t like to field any of his players unless they were perfectly ready to play.

On the other hand, Guinea boss Patrice Neveu blamed the players’ lack of international experience for their defeat and departure from the African Cup quarter-finals.

“We lost because of the players’ lack of experience and due to their inability to follow the plans I lay out for them. Pascal Feindouno, who scored four goals in our short campaign, wasn’t also in his best form, which affect the team’s overall performance,” Neveu said.

Senegal will next play against either Egypt or DR Congo in the semi-final match that will take place on Tuesday.
