Former Milan legends Franco Baresi and Angelo Colombo have been pegged as Cameroon's new coaching staff.

Despite failing to qualify for the 2006 World Cup, Cameroon are widely regarded as one of the stronger African teams, and the Italian pair will have to prove their ability in spite of their inexperience.

However, the Indomitable Lions have been without a coach since last spring when Portuguese boss Artur Jorge left.

While the duo is only in talks with Cameroon, Colombo was quick to note he had not been looking to leave AC Milan, who's reputation has suffered since being found guilty in the Italian match-fixing scandal.

"Firstly I want to say that we didn't apply for the Cameroon job, but the Football Federation contacted us," Colombo said was quoted as saying by Calcio Italia magazine.

"So far all that's happened is that our lawyer has sent a letter to the Cameroon Football Federation to say that we are available."

Baresi is currently the head coach of the Primavera youth team for AC Milan while Colombo had managed the Under-11 team until recently.
