"I think tonight we played a good match against a solid team," Real's official website quoted Capello as saying after Saturday's game.
"I think we played a very tactical match and that the players gave their best effort. I also think we had more chances of scoring the second goal."
Malian midfielder Mahamadou Diarra scored his first goal for Real Madrid in the sixth minute to secure the win.
Capello also credited Betis for their attempts to level the score after the break.
"Sometimes you have to think about who you are going to play against. We suffered in the last 15 minutes, and Betis managed to be troublesome for us," he said.
The victory put the Royal club temporarily at the top of the table before Barcelona play Valencia on Sunday.
Real Madrid will host Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Tuesday and Capello highlighted the need for a more attacking style when taking on their guests.
"We still have to focus more on attacking, but we are better than in previous matches and we are much more organized. I think this was obvious today," he said.
Capello's side lost their first European game to Lyon 2-0 and they lie now in third spot of Group E with no points, leading Dynamo on goal difference.
