Drogba's agent, Pierre Frelot, has admitted that talks with the Premiership winners have not concluded, but he believes they will reach an agreement soon.

"We are still in discussions," Frelot told the Daily Star on Wednesday.

"It is taking longer than we expected."

The Ivorian has given an excellent showing on field this season, despite the arrival of the high profile Andrei Shevchenko, Drogba has won over manager Jose Mourinho with his strong striking ability.

"Didier is a really important player in the group and we are aware of that," Frelot said.

Drogba joined the Blues in July 2004 from French giants Marseille in a deal worth 24.5 million pounds ($44.5 million).
