Mohsen Hindawi scored twice and Ahmed Hassan added the third as Ghazl Mahalla thrashed Masri 3-0 at home in the Egyptian League on Monday.

The comfortable victory moved Mahalla up to third place in the standings with 18 points, three points behind leaders Ismaili.

Hindawi set Mahalla on the right track in the 14th minute when he received a low pass from Hassan inside the area before squeezing the ball into the near angle.

He doubled the lead 12 minutes later as he stepped up to thunder a free-kick past the wall and then into the back of the net.

Hassan put the icing on the cake ten minutes from time, dinking a first-timer past Masri keeper Haitham Mohamed to take his season tally to eight goals and stay atop the scorers list.

Masri, who lost to Ahli in Port Said last week, were left in 12th with eight points.

In Cairo, Tersana grabbed their first triumph of the season when they edged 1-0 past Tanta.

Ahed Abdul-Magid scored his first goal in this campaign, netting a fourth-minute winner.

Farouk Gaafar's side are now placed in 13th spot with seven points while Tanta remain second from bottom with just five points.
