AC Milan goalkeeper Nelson Dida has been ruled out of action for up to three months after hurting his knee in his side's 1-0 UEFA Champions League win over AEK Athens.

The Brazilian international was stretched off the pitch before the end of Tuesday's clash after suffering a partial lesion of his left quadriceps tendon, the Serie A side said on their official website on Thursday.

The news will come as a blow to Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, whose side have lost four of their last five Serie A games.

According to Calcio Italia magazine, the Rossoneri are eyeing a January move in the transfer market to sign Livorno's custodian Marco Amelia.

Milan are also targeting Amelia because Dida's back-up keeper Zeljko Kalac hasn't impressed in his Coppa Italia appearances.
