An Egyptian court sentenced Zamalek Tunisian duo Wissem El-Abdi and Yamen ben Zekri for six months in jail on Thursday for physically abusing a policeman.

"Zamalek have appealed the verdict and paid EGP 500 to release them until a final ruling is announced," the club's spokesman Khaled Gabr told FilGoal.com.

Defender Zekri and newly-signed El-Abdi were involved in a dispute with a policeman when the latter told them not to stop their car in front of 'Atlas' hotel in Al-Mohandessin district, Cairo.

However, the dispute developed into a brawl and the duo was officially charged with violent conduct.

Although Ben Zekri and El-Abdi settled the quarrel with the policeman in a friendly way, the court refused to close the matter and opted for a jail sanction.
