The 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola will start 10 days earlier than this year's edition in Ghana to ease European clubs' frustration over the tournament's date.
European clubs repeatedly voiced their displeasure at being forced to play handful of games without their African stars.
They demanded CAN to be played in June instead of January and February.
Their request was turned down by Confederation of African Football (CAF), who insisted weather conditions in the Dark Continent won't help switching CAN to the summer.
However, CAF agreed to organize Africa's showpiece early in January, the period which several European countries use as a winter break.
England will not take advantage of the new decision as the Premiership does not stop for any mid-season breaks.
