The players refused to receive $2000 each as winning bonuses after their 3-0 victory over Sudan, stressing that the government promised $2500, according to The Post.
The Zambian daily quoted a source in Kumasi as saying that the team refused to train on Thursday.
He said: "The development led to players threatening to boycott tomorrow’s crunch match against Cameroon if their demand was not adequately addressed."
According to the source, who hasn't been named, several meetings are taking place between players and officials to solve the crisis.
But team officials, not named as well, told Times of Zambia that the payment "was made in accordance with what was laid down in the budget for the team’s participation at the tournament."
Manager Patrick Phiri refused to comment.
"My area is technical. There are people who comment on these other things. You know them," he told The Post.
Zambia top Group C with three points, leading Egypt on goal difference. Cameroon are third while Sudan are rooted.
