Zaki still looking for a goal

Amr Zaki might not feature in Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Djibouti on October 12th after aggravating a calf injury, his agent said on Sunday.

“Zaki suffered a suspected muscle tear in his calf,” Mohamed Saied told FilGoal.com.

“He told me late on Saturday that his injury was serious. He wants to play against Djibouti because the match would represent a good opportunity for him to score.

“However, the injury might force Zaki to miss the game. Egypt team doctor Ahmed Maged will have the last word on whether he can play.”

The combative frontman initially sustained the problem during Wigan’s goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur two weeks ago.

He aggravated the problem during last week’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City, but he still managed to feature against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

“Zaki hasn’t trained with his teammates since the Man City game. He just underwent treatment for his injury.”

Egypt will have an easy task when they host minnows Djibouti at Cairo stadium.

The Pharaohs need just a draw to advance to the World Cup qualifiers’ last phase as Group 12 winners.
