Barcelona coach and players ran to console defender Marc Muniesa, after the youngster had a bittersweet debut during his team's 1-0 home loss to Osasuna on Sunday.

At 17 years of age, Muniesa is the second youngest player to feature for Barcelona, but his dream start was ruined when he saw straight red seven minutes from time.

"It should have been a yellow card at the most," striker Samuel Eto'o said.

"But what is important is that Muniesa made his debut with the best team in the world and that is what he should remember most," the Cameroonian added.

The Catalans' coach Josep Guardiola echoed Eto'o's statements, confirming that Muniesa should be proud of his first Barcelona game.

"Muniesa has had a serious injury earlier in the season and I wanted to reward him," Guardiola said.

"I feel sorry for him because of red card. But he is well and is feeling good."

After winning both La Liga and the Spanish Cup titles, Barca are on a treble of trophies as they face Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday.
