World Cup quarter-finalists Ghana strolled to a 3-0 victory over Swaziland in their Group I opener of the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.

The Black Stars, who missed out on a historic semi-final berth at the South Africa finals after suffering a heartbreaking defeat by Uruguay, needed 13 minutes to grab the lead over Swaziland.

Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew opened the scoring and striker Prince Tagoe doubled their advantage midway through the second half.

Defender Hans Sarpei completed the rout with nine minutes remaining.

Ghana are on top of their group, ahead of second-placed Sudan, who defeated Congo 2-0 on Saturday, on goal difference.

Senegal were too strong for DR Congo, defeating them 4-2 in Group E.

A hat-trick by Fenerbahce's newly-signed striker Mamadou Niang and a goal from Moussa Sow helped Senegal go level on points with Cameroon, who beat Mauritius 3-1 on Saturday.
