The 36-year-old has yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with Ahli and will run out of contract next month.

“Barakat made a decision to end his career by the end of the season,” his manager Hazem Hadidi told Modern Sport TV.

“He would like to retire at a good time of his career. Barakat respects Ahli and he always said he would never play anywhere else.”

Barakat has been one of Ahli's top players during the past decade, inspiring the club to a host of domestic and continental titles since arriving in 2004.

The former Egypt international, who is currently a regular for the Reds, has yet to confirm his retirement though.
