"We are currently speaking with Zaki over a move starting next season," Aboul-Saoud told FilGoal.com.

"I had a talk with Zaki over the matter and he showed an initial agreement to join us but first he will need to finish his spell with his club."

Zaki is currently on the books of Kuwaiti side Al-Salmiya whom he joined last summer on a one-year deal after ending a torrid spell with Turkish side Elazigspor last January.

The Egyptian FA had announced months ago that the new Premier League season is set to kick off after the Pharaohs' World Cup qualifying campaign.

However, it remains to be seen when exactly the proposed league season would start after authorities had requested postponing the kick off date – initially scheduled for November 30 – due to the ongoing turmoil.
