Ahli and Zamalek could play the remainder of their CAF Champions League campaign behind closed doors, an FA spokesman said.

Clashes between security forces and ultras fans took place ahead of Ahli's Super Cup win over Sfaxien this month, a few says before the same happened in a Zamalek match.

Zamalek were forced to host Angola's Kabuscorp behind closed doors as a result of their fans being prevented from entering Cairo Stadium by security.

"After what happened in the recent Ahli and Zamalek games. Authorities are reluctant to hold any football match in the presence of fans," spokesman Azmi Megahed said.

It was also rumored that authorities are reluctant to stage next week's Champions League clash between Ahli and Tanzania's Young Africans in Cairo.

An official announcement is yet to come out though, with domestic football on hold as Egypt play against Bosnia in a friendly game this week.
