Meteb to Jeddah

Ahli president Hassan Hamdi held the players responsible for their shoch 1-0 defeat at the hands of Asian Champions Ittihad Jeddah in the Club World Championship (CWC) opener that took place on Sunday.

Hamdi, who met with the players and the coaching staff before returning to Cairo, insisted that the players weren’t up for the responsibility and they were the ones to blame for the surprise defeat.

“We made everything available for you and we allocated an unprecedented cash prize on the Egyptian football level, but your sloppiness lead to our defeat,” Hamdi said.

However, Hamdi insisted that Ahli were a team of titles and that life didn’t stop at one loss and stressed that they will reassess everything from the start to make sure never to fall in that shameful way once more.

“You’ve let the club fans down, this is something we wont let happen again,” he told the players.

On another hand, Ahli boss Manuel Jose insisted that bad luck played a big role in the team’s match in addition to that the players didn’t stick to his strategy throughout the match, an aspect that lead to the defeat.
