Zamalek have sacked Farouk Gaafar as head coach on Thursday following their 3-1 defeat against Masri in the Egyptian League, club president Mortada Mansour said.

Skipper Hazem Emam has been fined 30,000 L.E. for protesting over being substituted during the humiliating defeat, Mansour told FilGoal.com.

Ghanaian midfielder Awuley Quay "Junior", Walid Abdul-Latif and Gamal Hamza have been handed the same fine as the first saw red in the first-half of the match while the Egyptian duo abandoned the traning.

Zamalek failed to hold on to their one-goal lead to receive their second defeat of the season by Masri, the basement side before the shocking victory.

Mansour said he opened talks with former Zamalek coach Eduardo Nelo Vingada, now in charge of Academica de Coimbra, to take over but revealed that financial terms may block the deal.
