AC Milan are set to construct a new stadium and it is supposed to be like Schalke's Arena, club vice president Adriano Galliani said on Tuesday.

"Milan are seriously working towards constructing a stadium which will be based on the Schalke Arena in Germany," Galliani told Italian paper Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"I have spoken to the management at Schalke 04 and they said that moving to the new stadium not only brought more people but more women and children."

Milan share the San Siro stadium with arch-rivals Inter Milan, a situation seen by Milan's administration as unusual.

"No where in the world do two such important clubs such as Milan and Inter share a stadium," Galliani said.

Galliani also revealed plans to depend on sponsorship deals to fund and maintain the new stadium.

"The name will be given to a sponsor as they do in America and Germany and they can keep it for up to ten years. We are only at the beginning, but we are serious."
