Egypt coaching staff insisted that they checked up on Tottenham Hotspur’s Ahmed Hossam “Mido” after sustaining an injury in his side’s Premiership match against Manchester City on Wednesday.

“We checked up on Mido after the English team doctor diagnosed him and said that the player recovered from a thigh-muscle strain and will join his teammates in Tottenham’s training on Saturday,” Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedki told Filgoal.com on Thursday.

Mido scored a goal in the Spurs’ match against Man City and helped create another one to lead them to victory before picking up the injury five minutes from full time.

Sedki also insisted that Mido and Strasbourg’s Hosni Abd-Rabou will join the Egyptian training camp which starts on Saturday, following a one-day break after their 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in a friendly that took place on Thursday.

On another hand, Egypt doctor Ahmed Maged confirmed that Ahli midfielder Mohamed Shawki recuperated from a thigh-muscle injury and will join his teammates in the team training after their friendly against Nigerian that will take place on January ninth.

Shawki strained his thigh muscle after going into a tough tackle with Amr Zaki and was expected to miss Egypt’s run for the African Cup, but Maged played down the rumours after saying that the player will only need four days of intense physical therapy.
