The Besiktas midfielder said it was not the right time for the media to discuss such an issue whether it was true or not.

“I was stunned by reports linking me to Zamalek and claiming that I actually agreed a deal,” Hassan told Filgoal.com exclusively on Sunday.

“It did not happen,” insisted Hassan.

“Regardless, these reports are absolutely inappropriate during this time where everyone should be supporting the national team,” he added.

The Egypt skipper said he was disgusted with the recurrence of such rumors, stating that he has not decided where his next destination would be.

“I really wish everyone would let me be!

“I said over and over before that I’m not making a decision over a to Egypt before the season is over, but nobody seems to believe me,” he said.

“I don’t know who is behind these rumors and the point from raising such an issue in this critical timing for the Egyptian team,” Hassan marveled.

Egypt face an uphill task in the African Cup of Nations that begins on Friday.

The hosts, who play in Group A alongside Libya, Morocco and Ivory Coast, lost to South Africa 2-1 on Saturday in the final warm-up for the tournament.

“Reporters came up to me after South Africa’s match and started asking me about my negotiations with Ahli and Zamalek,” the former Ismaili ace said. “Not one of them asked me about the national team.”

“I assure you that the reporter who writes about my future destination in this critical time has no sense of patriotism,” he said.

Hassan said that he would have preferred that that the media would put more effort into encouraging fans to come out and support the national team.

“Not many fans came out for the South Africa match, even though we desperately needed their support,” said Hassan.
