Spain boss Luis Aragones insisted that his side were the strongest in Group F of the Euro 2008 qualifiers, which will be hosted by Austria and Switzerland.

"Spain is the best team and we must use that to qualify to the final round. Technically, we are the best, and we hope that our technique level is higher than our fitness, that will be the only way to win,” Aragones told Spanish daily Marca on Saturday.

Spain were drawn with Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Iceland, North Ireland, Liechtenstein in Group F, which leaves them in a relatively balanced group, according to the Spanish media perspective, given that they wont face giants like France, England or Holland.

"Everything is complicated in football. It is necessary to try to respect everybody, while at the same time earning their respect by qualifying to the finals,” Aragones added.

The coming qualifiers were chosen to be on a direct qualification basis, with the top two clubs qualifying directly to the Euro 2008

"This might be of use to us, but nevertheless, we still need to be careful,” Aragones insisted.

The Spaniard caretaker also said that he was relieved they weren’t drawn to Group A along with Portugal, Poland, Serbia-Montenegro, Belgium, Finland, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

"I hoped that we weren’t drawn with Group A, it would’ve been exhausting for us, in addition to the cold weather that we would’ve played in away from here.”
