Confederations of African Football (CAF) discipline committee refused Egypt’s petition to cancel midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika’s second booking, which he received during his side’s Group A final round match against Ivory Coast on Saturday.

CAF decided to snub Egypt’s petition to lift Abou-Treika’s booking, given that the player wasted valuable time after scoring the goal, discipline committee member Mohamed Al-Seyagi told Filgoal.com on Sunday.

The talented midfielder scored Egypt’s second goal against Ivory Coast and received his second booking after celebrating for a considerable period of time, which means that he will miss his side’s match in the competition quarter-finals.

The Pharaohs beat Ivory Coast 3-1 to top the Group A standings with seven points and qualify to the quarter-finals.
