Goalkeeper Essam Al-Hadari, defender Wael Gomaa and midfielder Ahmed Hassan and Mohamed Abou-Treika made CAF's final cut for the continent’s best players.

CAF's selection also included Rigobert Song (Caameroon), Emanuel Eboue (Ivory Coast), Taye Taiwo (Nigeria), Pascal Feindouno (Guinea), Stephen Appiah (Ghana), Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon) and Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast).

Ten players were chosen as reserves: Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria), Moustapha Camara (Senegal), John Mensah (Ghana), Silva Dos Santos (Tunisia), Henri Camara (Senegal), Ismail Bangoura (Guinea) Zola Malumona (DR Congo), Lumana LuaLua (DR Congo), Geremi Fotoso (Cameroon) and Arouna Kone (Ivory Coast).

Egypt’s Ahmed Hassan had bagged the Best Player award while Al-Hadari was named Best Goalkeeper.

Nigeria's John Obi Mikel was chosen young player of the tournament and Cameroon’s Eto’o finished as top-scorer with five goals.
