Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh called for and All-Star game to take place between the 'friends of Ahmed Hassan' and the 'friends of Nawaf Al-Temyat' for the benefit of the survivors from the sunken Egyptian ferry Al-Salam.

The paper suggested that Arab All-Star games, like those held in Europe, would serve as an important tool for charity and crisis management events.

Hassan and Al-Temyat were chosen as potential candidates due to their huge popularity in the Arab world.

Several Egyptian candidates were mentioned as possible participants like captain Hossam Hassan, Essam Al-Hadari, Ibrahim Saied, Mohamed Abou-Treika, Emad Meteb and Mohamed Barakat.

The daily paper made some suggestions as to how the event should be managed to guarantee its success:

- Players should enter the pitch holding the pictures of King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz and President Hosni Mubarak (as the two teams would consist mainly of players from Saudi Arabia and Egypt).

- Coordinate with players to create a taped clip explaining the cause for which the game is being held.

- Approaching Arab organizations and businesses to sponsor the event and hold charity-related projects.

- The game should feature top players from several Arab and Islamic countries like: Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, Jordan, Syria and Palestine, among others.

- To divide participation time between players equally.

- The game should be supervised by the Arab Union Football Association and Arab League.

- The game should be aired free of charge to all Arab and Islamic countries to promote for such charitable events.
