Schalke 04 striker Kevin Kuranyi will be sidelined for the coming four weeks after picking up a knee injury, the German club announced on their official club website on Wednesday.

The international forward sustained the injury during a team’s training and is expected to be benched throughout the coming four weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

Nevertheless, the Schalke team doctor insisted that Kuranyi is expected to recuperate before Germany’s World Cup campaign and confirmed that he will even get back in shape to continue with the rest of his side’s campaign in the Bundesliga.

Schalke come in fourth place in the German league standings with a tally of 45 points after 23 rounds. They will next play against Italian side Palermo in the UEFA Cup round of 16.
