Veteran coach Megahed dies at 56

Veteran coach Hassan Megahed, who coached Mansoura for 12 years, has died on Tuesday at the age of 56 after a long battle with illness.

Megahed suffered failure in the functions of liver and kidney, and has passed away in the hospital in Cairo after he was hit by a deep coma.

Megahed coached Mansoura since 1992 till the last season when they were relegated to the second division.

The veteran boss guided the team to the Egyptian Cup final in 1996 and finished third in the league in the same season.

Megahed took over as Al-Gaish head coach in the beginning of the season and steered the team to fourth spot on 29 points.
