AS Roma midfielder Amantino Mancini said that Francesco Totti's injury has been a motivation for his side in their bid to qualify to the UEFA Champions League.

"Totti is an important player, one who can change the outcome of a game with one touch," Mancini was quoted as saying by Football Italia magazine on Friday.

"However, once he did get injured, all of us wanted to prove to the critics that there is still a side here without him," he added.

Roma skipper Totti is likely to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a leg injury in a Serie A clash against Empoli earlier in February.

The Giallorossi are facing a stiff competition from Fiorentina on Serie A's fourth spot that enable them to feature in Europe's most prestigious competition.

Roma are just one points adrift of fourth-placed Fiorentina and the two teams clash on Sunday.

"A draw wouldn’t be a bad result. But we want to win," Mancini said.

"Are we tired? We have given a lot over the last three months, but I wouldn’t say that we are tired," he added.
