Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini, still under shock after verbal and physical assault on his players from the club fans, said he will quit coaching in Italy after the season finishes.

"This incident has speeded up my desire to go and work abroad," Football Italia magazine quoted Mancini as saying on Monday.

Some 50 fans shouting angry slogans received the Inter team in the Malpensa airport early on Sunday after they returned from their Serie A game against Ascoli, before a group of them beat captain Javier Zanetti and midfielder Cristiano Zanetti.

"One thing is for certain, I won't work in Italy again once my career at Inter comes to an end," the former Italy international added.

Mancini, closing on the end of his two-year contract with Inter, is under fire after the team suffered a surprising UEFA Champions League exit against Spanish side Villarreal.

The quarter-finals elimination added to Inter's misery who started the domestic season as favorites for the title but now battling city rivals AC Milan for second spot with Juventus on the brink of retaining the title.

"Italy is a country where you can’t win and enjoy a victory because if you lose then you are forced to not only think about the defeat, but other things too," Mancini said.
