Arsenal defender Sol Campbell is doubtful for their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against Spanish side Villarreal after breaking his nose against Portsmouth on Wednesday.

"Sol's nose is broken. He sees a specialist today. He has no breathing problems but the surgeon has to decide whether he has surgery now or whether we should wait until the end of the season, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told Arsenal TV on Thursday.

Campbell, who is scheduled to see a doctor to decide on whether he will need to undergo surgery or not, is expected to be sidelined up till three weeks, according to the seriousness of his injury.

"If he needs surgery now it is at least a week out. It is three weeks without any risk but I feel he could play after one week," Wenger said.

Campbell, who will miss Arsenal’s Premiership match against West Brom on Friday, comes in line with a series of other injured players like Ashley Cole.

The defender’s latest injury comes as a new setback for him given his mission to prove his fitness for England’s World Cup campaign that kicks off on June ninth.
