Besiktas and Egypt star Ahmed Hassan

Besiktas midfielder Ahmed Hassan said that he was thrilled at winning a second title in the space of three months after his side won the Turkish Cup and Egypt won the African Cup of Nations (ACN).

“I felt very happy to win a second title only after three months of winning the ACN, nevertheless I felt bad that I couldn’t play in Besiktas’ final match given my injury, but I supported them throughout the match,” Hassan told FilGoal.com exclusively.

Besiktas clinched the Turkish cup after defeating Fenerbahce 3-2 in the final match that saw the addition of extra-time after a 2-2 draw in the original time.

“I really wanted to play a pivotal role in the match and score the decisive goal, but that’s God’s will,” Hassan added.

The 31-year-old also revealed that Besiktas’ medical team made several efforts to try and get him into shape for the match but with no avail.

Asked about his future with Besiktas, the Egypt international said: “I’ve given a chance to Premiership clubs to send in their offers, but nobody was serious about it, that’s why if Besiktas table me a new offer, I’ll accept it.”
