"Vingada asked for a monthly salary of $25,000, and insisted that the assistant coach would be Portuguese for a $7,000 salary, in addition to that he would start working with the team from July first,” EFA Spokesman Medhat Shalabi said.

EFA president Samir Zaher gave Vingada time to contemplate about the contract terms after they opened direct negotiations last month in Lisbon.

"We received the resumé of three well known Portuguese coaches, and their names will be added to the three Egyptian candidates for the position," added Shalabi.

EFA rejected Vingada's proposal to hire a Portuguese assistant as they are keen on transmitting European experience to national coaches, beside that the date he set to start his work on July won't be enough for preparations before the Olympic team starts their qualifying campaign to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

"The EFA will decide on the Olympic team coach in our meeting next week," Shalabi said.
