Ecuador, Costa Rica announce World Cup squads

Ecuador coach Luis Fernando Suarez has revealed the 23-men squad that will play in the World Cup just five days before the official deadline for squad submission, the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) announced on their official website on Wednesday.

Suarez will depend on some of his experienced players like Agustin Delgado, Ivan Hurtado, Ulises De La Cruz and Ivan Kaviedes who all played in the 2002 World Cup.

Ecuador were drawn to Group A in the World Cup, alongside Costa Rica, Poland and the host nation, Germany, and will kick off their World Cup campaign against Poland on June 9th.

Elsewhere, Ecuador group contenders Costa Rica have also announced a 24 men squad, from which only one player will be eliminated from the team by May 15th.

Costa Rica will be playing against Germany in the World Cup's opening game on June 9th.

The Ecuadorian squad:

Goalkeepers: Edwin Villafuerte, Christian Mora, Damian Lanza

Defenders: Ivan Hurtado, Giovanny Espinosa, Ulises De La Cruz, Paul Ambrosi, Neicer Reasco, Jorge Guagua, Jose Luis Perlaza

Midfielders: Marlon Ayovi, Edwin Tenorio, Edison Mendez, Patricio Urrutia, Christian Lara, Segundo Castillo, Antonio Valencia, Luis F. Saritama

Strikers: Felix Borja, Ivan Kaviedes, Agustin Delgado, Cristhian Benitez, Carlos Tenorio.

The Costa Rican squad:

Goalkeepers: Jose F. Porras, Wardy Alfaro, Alvaro Mesen

Defenders: Jervis Drummond, Gabriel Badilla, Luis Marin, Harold Wallace, Michael Rodriguez, Gilberto Martinez, Roy Miller, Douglas Sequiera, Leonardo Gonzalez, Michael Umana

Midfielders: Hundredth Walter, Christian Bolanos, Randall Azofeifa, Carlos Hernandez, Maricio Soli's, Dany Fonseca, Kurt Bernard

Strikers: Ronaldo Go'mez, Alvaro Saborio, Victor Nunez, Paulo Wanchope.
