The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is due to announce appointing Eduardo 'Nelo' Vengada as the Olympic team coach after the Portuguese reached a compromise regarding his contract terms.

EFA president Samir Zaher revealed that he was contacted by Vengada on Tuesday, who informed him that he gave up his previous terms, which included hiring a Portuguese assistant as well as starting work in July, terms which were rejected by EFA.

The Egyptian football governing body want Vengada to commence his work with the team in June, as they will play their first game in the African qualifications to the 2008 Beijing Olympics next September.

The Portuguese boss had previously coached Zamalek for one season, during which he guided them to win the Egyptian League title in 2004.

Rabie Yassin is the most prominent candidate to take over as Vengada's coaching assistant, an informed source told FilGoal.com.

Before Vengada gave up his earlier terms, the EFA said they will announce the new Olympic team coach on Thursday, and Abdul-Aziz Abdel-Shafi was expected to be named.
