Hassan and his twin Ibrahim left for Masri from Zamalek in 2004 after a four-year spell in the Cairo giants.

He scored 54 goals for Zamalek in all competitions and won three league titles and the African Champions League.

The duo moved across the city to Zamalek from arch-rivals Ahli in 2000, a deal that made shockwaves in the Egyptian football at the time.

A close source familiar with the issue but didn't want to be named told FilGoal.com that Hassan wants to join Zamalek with his twin but Zamalek officials refused the notion and stressed they don't need the veteran back-right.

The pair's contract with Masri runs out by the end of the season.

Hassan is Egypt's most capped player of all-time. He steered the national side to the African Cup of Nations earlier in 2006 and was also a member of the squad that won the title back in 1986.

Hassan is the second best scorer in the Egyptian League history, scoring 162 goals with Ahli, Zamalek and Masri, only eight goals behind Hassan Al-Shazly, who was Egypt's icon in the 60s.
