Zamalek club made an official bid on Thursday to sign defender Mohamed Abdul-Wahab from UAE side Al-Zafra.

Zamalek sent an official fax to Al-Zafra with a bid worth 450,000 euros (EGP 3.3 million) for the services of the Egypt international winger.

Abdul-Wahab is nearing the end of a two-year loan to Zamalek's arch-rivals Ahli.

The 23-year-old played a pivotal role in Ahli's run to their second consecutive Egyptian league title this season.

He was also a member of the Egyptian national team that won the African Cup of Nations on home soil in February.

Ahli had made a 600,000 euro (EGP 4.4 million) bid to acquire Abdul-Wahab's services from Al-Zafra on permanent basis.

Negotiations between the two clubs reached a dead end after Ahli refused to meet the 800,000 euro asking price set by the Gulf-club for the player.

On the other hand, Amr Al-Safti's move to Zamalek has been put on hold after Masri objected to their share of the deal.
