The World Cup winner called former Juventus and current Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello and told him that he will play for the Spanish giants, the paper added.
Cannavaro, who led Italy to their fourth World Cup title a few days ago, was also targeted by Premiership title holders Chelsea and Italian powerhouse Milan.
After the reported call, Capello contacted Real chairman Ramon Calderon to confirm that the 33-year-old stopper will be in the Santiago Bernabeu next season, the sports daily said in its unsourced report.
Several Juventus players are reportedly seeking a move out of the club who were relegated to Serie B after being found guilty with sporting fraud.
It is unlikely that Juventus, who were also stripped of the Italian League title, will be able to return to Serie A in one season after 30 points of their next campaign's account were docked in advance.
Real Madrid, alongside other European big clubs, are also interested in landing Juventus' Gianluca Zambrotta and Emerson.
