Dujkovic resigns as Ghana coach

Ghana coach Ratumir Dujkovic has resigned from his position on Sunday after leading the team to the World Cup second round last month.

Ghanaian Football Federation Officials wanted to extend Dujkovic's contract with the Black Stars but the Serbian resigned just four months before his contract expires.

"This decision has become necessary due to my health situation," Dujkovic was quoted as saying by BBC.com.

Despite leading Ghana to their first ever World Cup finals, Dujkovic has been under a lot of criticism from the local media in Ghana.

"Some journalists have been against me from the first day I arrived at Ghana, because they were against a foreign coach."

"I've to say this has been very difficult for me, but my results have spoken for themselves as to my capability as a coach," Dujkovic added.

It is reported that Dujkovic is a strong candidate to take over the Serbian national side following the resignation of former coach Ilija Petkovic after the team's poor showing at the World Cup.
