Mohamed Abdul-Wahab's permanent move to Ahli seems to have taken another u-turn, an Egyptian Football Association (EFA) official told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

Abdul-Wahab has been the center of a tug-of –war between Ahli, who had the player on-loan for two years, and his original UAE club Al-Zafra.

Ahli officials thought they have landed the versatile winger after word came that FIFA assigned the EFA to settle the issue according to the contract clause.

Based on the information, Ahli officials registered the 22-year-old in their local squad.

An EFA Players' Status Committee member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that FIFA's letter did not delegate the EFA to take action.

He said that FIFA's letter clearly stated the two parties (Abdul-Wahab and Al-Zafra) should take the issue up with their Players' Status Committee.

According to this statement, Al-Zafra officials have the right to file a complaint to FIFA for immediate action.

The Egyptian champions were hoping to sign Abdul-Wahab ahead of Saturday's African Champions League match against JS Kabylie.
