Ahli defender Wael Gomaa said on Thursday that he is waiting for club officials to accept an offer from Premiership side Bolton.

"I did receive an offer from Bolton to join them this season through a British player agency," Gomaa confirmed to FilGoal.com.

"I'm just waiting for Ahli officials to give me the green light in order to travel to England for three days to undergo a medical," the Egypt international added.

Gomaa said that he understands Ahli's reluctance to accept the English offer but noted this could be his last chance to land a European contract.

"I'm 31-year-old and a chance like that might not come again," he said. "It would be great to play in the Premiership."

The Egyptian international has recently suffered a dip in form recently.

Gomaa explained his absence during the medals' ceremony after Ahli beat Enppi in the Egyptian Super Cup final on Sunday saying that he was depressed.

"I was sad for two reasons…first, that Ahmed Sayed was injured during the game, and second, because his injury will probably diminish my chances in joining Bolton," he said.

Sayed is the second Ahli defender to get injured after Emad Al-Nahhas who will be out for three months.

Gomaa will be joined by newcomer Mohamed Sedik and either Islam Al-Shater or Mohamed Shawki in the back line in Ahli's match against JS Kabylie of Algeria.

Ahli captain Shadi Mohamed is suspended for Saturday's African Champions League clash.
