Gomaa to extend Ahli stay

Ahli defender Wael Gomaa assured that he's on his way to top form, adding that scoring in Ahli's 2-0 win over Tanta is the best way to get back on track.

Ahli board recently rejected two offers from Premiership clubs Bolton Wonderers and Blackburn Rovers to sign Gomaa, and the player said that it'll take him some time to recover after the club stood in the way of his dream to play in England.

"I'm gradually getting over the bad mental status I've been suffering since Ahli rejected the English offers," Gomaa told FilGoal.com after the Tanta game.

The Cairo giants kicked off their new season with an unconvincing 2-0 win over League newcomers Tanta in a game that saw the Cairo stadium seats almost empty.

The International defender insisted that Ahli fans have always supported their team through worse circumstances, denying that the low attendance is because of the team's recent mediocre performances.

"I think that the high ticket prices are the reason behind the low attendance, the fans that paid a lot in the African Cup of Nations differ from the usual League fans."
