Tunisian right back Hatem Trabelsi has joined Manchester City on free transfer after passing a tough medical test at the Premiership club.

After his contract with Ajax expired this summer, Trabelsi was linked with some European clubs including Paris Saint Germain and Inter before Manchester City captured the player's signature on an initial one-year-contract.

"Hatem's joining us subject to a work permit, and we're delighted to have him here, I think he's one of the best Bosmans of the summer personally," Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce told the club's official website.

"He played at the highest level for Ajax, and been to three World Cups, he captains his country as well so it's a good C.V." Pearce added.

Following the arrival of Ousmane Dabo, Bernardo Corradi, Dietmar Hamman and Paul Dickov, Trabelsi will be a huge enforcement for Manchester City as they prepare for the new Premier League season starting on August 19th.
