"It is wonderful to play with Cannavaro, a great player who has a wealthy of experience," Ramos was quoted as saying by Real's official website on Friday.
"For sure he will be a very good addition to us, and I'm going to learn from him," the former Sevilla defender added.
Real Madrid signed Cannavaro from Juventus on a three-year contract after the Italian club were demoted to Serie B for their part in the match-fixing scandal.
Los Meringues coach Fabio Capello moved to strengthen his back line after his side suffered from a flimsy defense during the past three seasons.
Ramos praised the Italian international, who played an integral role in his country's World Cup triumph, for his attitude with his teammates.
"He communicates very well with us, not only in the matches but also during the training, he always gives us help," he said.
