Kuyt passed a medical on Thursday to complete a deal which is believed to be in the region of 10 million pounds ($18.96 million), according to British media.

"I am really happy. We were looking at Dirk for a long time and I'm pleased we have signed him because he will be a good player for us," Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez said.

"He's a player with good game intelligence. He knows what to do with the ball and without the ball and he's also a very good worker."

The signing of the 26-year-old striker puts an end to a summer-long saga that saw Kuyt linked to Newcastle United and Tottenham as well.

Spanish boss Benitez said he is confident the Dutch striker will live up to expectations next season.

"His movement is good, his finishing is fantastic and I know he will score a lot of goals for us because we now have more possibilities in the wide areas and also between the lines," he said.

Kuyt becomes Liverpool's sixth signing after Craig Bellamy, Jermaine Pennant, Gabriel Paletta, Fabio Aurelio and Mark Gonzalez.
