Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores said that his team's 3-0 victory over Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday helped them regain their status as one of the continent's top clubs.

"The club has regained the prestige we needed and we have also ensured that we will receive an important economic boost," Flores was quoted as saying by Spanish daily Marca after the game.

Valencia's European hopes were in jeopardy after losing to their Austrian opponents 1-0 in the first-leg of the Champions League third qualification round.

But goals from Fernando Morientes, David Villa and David Silva at the Mestalla helped the Spanish giants clinch their group stage berth with a 3-1 aggregate win.

The two-times Champions League finalists missed out on last season's edition but will now join Spanish counterparts Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"We've reaped the reward for all our hard work of the last season," said Flores. "We're back where we belong."
