Senegal striker Henri Camara has signed a three-year contract extension with Premiership side Wigan Athletic that will keep him at the club until 2009, the club said on Wednesday.

"I am happy at Wigan, I am playing the best football of my career. I am settled in the area, I have a good relationship with the supporters," Camara was quoted as saying by Wigan's official website.

"I think the partnership with Emile Heskey is going to bear a lot of results this season. Why on earth would I want to leave when there is so much going for me here?"

Camara joined Wigan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2005. He played a pivotal role in leading the Latics to the 10th place in the Premiership table in their first season in the top flight.

The 29-year-old striker also helped his side reach the Carling Cup final before losing to Manchester United.

Wigan coach Paul Jewell said he was very pleased to secure the Senegalese international's future.

"I am absolutely delighted Henri has decided to pledge his future here," he said.

"He knows how much we think of him and how much a part of my plans he is and that is reflected in the offer we've made to him."
