"We reached an agreement with Barcelona and Van Bommel will arrive in Munich next week," Bayern sports director Uli Hoeness was quoted as saying by the club's website.

According to Bayern's statement, the financial details will not be revealed due to an agreement with Barcelona.

The 29-year-old holding midfielder is sought to cover the place of Germany skipper Michael Ballack who moved to Chelsea in the summer.

Van Bommel joined Barcelona last year from PSV Eindhoven but failed to secure a place in the starting line-up.
