New-signings led Inter Milan to register one of the most magnificent comebacks in the history of Italian football when they overcame a three-goal deficit to beat Roma 4-3 and win the Super Cup late on Saturday.

The victory gave 'double' winners Inter their third Super Cup title in history as they start the Serie A season as absolute favorites.

Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' came off the bench for Roma but he hardly had an impact on the game.

Star-studded Inter looked en rout to a humiliating defeat as Roma pounded Francesco Toldo's net three times in just 34 minutes.

Brazilian winger Mancini capitalized on a defensive blunder to poke the opener home in the 13th minute before Alberto Aquilani combined with captain Francesco Totti to double the lead in the 25th minute.

Inter defense continued their slips to allow midfielder Aquilani to add the third for the Italian capital side.

But Patrick Vieira, who joined in the summer from Juventus, gave Roberto Mancini's side a ray of sunlight as he opened his Inter's account when he steered a trade-mark header just before the interval.

Substitute Hernan Crespo, also a newcomer from Premiership champions Chelsea, narrowed the gap five minutes after the hour mark with a close-range shot.

France captain Vieira sent the home crowd into ecstasy with a 75th-minute equalizer as he buried the ball into an empty net after being released by former Juventus mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The normal time wasn't enough to separate the two teams but Luis Figo needed only five minutes into the extra-time to curl an unstoppable free-kick into the back of the net to give Inter a memorable victory.
